Colonial Williamsburg

Welcome to Willamsburg! I feel very patriotic just remembering the quaint little town. It was fun to walk down the streets and meet people very much in character... one asked where we were from, when my parents answered "Texas" the man replied "Never heard of it..." :) My parents whisked us away on a short excursion to Williamburg shortly after they arrived in Virginia, here are some of our favorite memories from our time there.

We mainly visited all the child-friendly, hands on activities, which I have to say, is something I probably enjoy more myself. :)

The cutest boy in Williamsburg ;)

Mya in character

I often wonder what thoughts are swirling in that cute little head...
Sweet as candy!

Took these pictures in front of some of the houses/shops down Mainstreet.

After chasing the marching band through the town (I'm sure my dad and I totally embarrassed Nate) :) , my parents couldn't resist purchasing these flutes for the girls. They absolutely love them! Mya wants to play as good as my dad (who actually plays the flute) and pumped out some sweet little patriotic tunes.

As much as I enjoyed Williamsburg, the highlight of the trip for me was the delicious breakfast I ate that morning - UNINTERRUPTED! My family kindly took charge of the kids, so Nate and I could sit at our own table and enjoy our feast. I'm sure I looked like a pig as I carried my 2 plates full of food (omelets, fruite, waffle, bacon...) to my table - yummay! 2nd favorite moment was being able to sit in the hot tub with Nate the following evening - aaaaah so relaxing!
Thanks mom and dad for the memorable experience ;) Love you!!!!

That looks like so much fun! My girls are studying American History this year and the school they go to is planning a trip to Colonial Williamsburg in the Spring.

How fun - Did you know I went to Williamsburg right after I turned 14? And based on the pictures I don't think it's changed that much, but I guess that's how it works with reenactment towns.

Cassie, Are your girls planning on coming up this year? Is this a part of the homeschool or are they attending school this year? It would be so awesome if you could come with them! We are not that far and we could meet you half-way or you could come stay with us for a while! Think about it!! :)

Amy, hahaha, can't believe I never knew that! :) Yeah, progression is not necessarily what Colonial Williamsburg is going for. :) Love you!
