Cox Farms

Last Thursday, on a bone-chilling, windy day (at least for us Texans), we headed out to Cox Farms with some friends from our church. Thanks Katie for inviting us!!
We bundled up and headed out, despite the cold front. By the end of the day, I was exhausted, but it was completely worth every moment. We enjoyed all the activities, free apples, and apple cider!

It was obvious we were from a warm state. Here I am bundled in a shirt, wool sweater, and wool coat, as opposed to Katie who threw a thin sweater on top of her t-shirt. =) And it was sunny!! If my dress wasn't a give away, Slaeter's hat must have been. This pink hat was the only hat I had that was warm enough. Poor little guy! I suppose his manhood isn't too damaged - haha.

Oh yes and we are also not used to all the country smells and such... especially Mya. After crawling on a bunch of hay, she wasn't too happy to see it all over her gloves.

We loved the whole farm, but our favorite part was the slide area. I have to admit, I enjoyed the slides quite a bit myself and was wishing Nate was there to not only enjoy them as well, but to help me out more so I could ride them more -hee hee.

The slides got bigger and taller as we went along. You can't tell how high this castle one was, but believe me it was pretty high. And because Audrey was bundled up with soooo many layers (doesn't she resembel the little guy in A Christmas Story? So funny!) I was afraid she would lose her balance and roll down the side of the hill as she made her way up. Mya was kind enough to "help" although I think she would've taken her down with her. =) Don't worry mom, I was right beside her. =)

Katie was also a huge help! She was at the top helping the kids get on so I could run back down the hill to meet them at the bottom.

Mya insisted I take her picture ... I couldn't stop laughing, but she waited patiently for me to stop so I could snap the pic.

This was the biggest slide and this picture does it no justice. When I finally made my way to the top, I have to admit, I was a little intimidated. The girls were braver than I was! They have such a scaredy-cat mom. Sandy, Steph, Angela, you all would have been laughing at me.
Below: Mya going down the slide alone, as I wait for her at the bottom saying a prayer. =)

Doesn't the face say it all? Woo-hoo!

Audrey wanted to take this one alone, but I put my foot down and made her ride in my lap. She could not get enough of this one! Let just say she got an extra fast ride, thanks to my body fat.

Checkin' out the animals.

A huge tractor (I guess all tractors are huge) went by and this is about the only thing at the farm that scared Audrey. She was ready to jump in with the horses, cows, pigs... slide down the highest slides, but when the tractor came by she ran to mya and peeked out behind her. I thought it was so cute and sweet to see her run to her big sis.

She didn't take her eyes off it until it had passed.

Towards the end of our excursion (to say the least!) we sat down and snacked on some homeade kettle corn and fresh apple cider -yummy!

Cox farms, in addition to the cider and apples, let everyone choose a pumpkin to take home with them from the patch. This was tremendous fun for the girls and I can't wait to make some fresh pumpkin pie!

We had such fun, but I think next year we will go back with daddy as well. I am really enjoying the fall season up here! Happy fall!

That reminds me of the St. Louis falls. Fall is so fun! Enjoy the beautiful leaves for me, okay? I don't know if you know this but we moved back to the ranch in Boerne! Wish you were here.

I can't believe the girls were brave enough for that slide - yikes-a-bee that thing was huge!

Oh, and I cracked up with the pink hat on Slaeter. Evan can join Slaeter in therapy when they get older and are scarred from their pink hats, bibs, and towels. The towel thing happened to Evan just tonight!
